Bishkek’s vast central square is ringed by grand Soviet-era buildings and watched over by a statue of the epic hero Manas. The changing of the guard and evening fountains draw locals out to stroll.
💡 Come at dusk when the fountains run and the square fills with families.
A sprawling, aromatic market where Kyrgyz life plays out over stalls of spices, dried fruit, felt hats, horse tack and mountains of produce. It is the best place to feel the city’s Central Asian pulse.
