Privacy Policy
Last updated September 2026
This policy explains what personal data traveling-to.com collects when you visit the site, why, and what choices you have. We’ve kept it short because we collect very little: there are no accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no advertising on this site, and we don’t sell or share personal data for marketing.
Who is responsible
traveling-to.com is an independent travel publisher based in Copenhagen, Denmark. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. You can contact us about privacy at editorial@traveling-to.com.
What we collect and why
Analytics (only if you allow it)
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to see which guides are read, how visitors find them and roughly where they come from, so we can decide what to update and improve. It records things like the pages you view, the site that referred you, your device and browser type and an approximate location (city or country level). Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Our legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the cookie icon in the corner of every page.
Until you make a choice, or if you reject analytics, Google Analytics runs in a restricted “consent mode”: it sets no cookies and sends Google only anonymous, cookieless signals (for example, that a page was viewed) without any identifier that could recognise you. Google acts as our data processor; data may be processed in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We keep analytics data for no longer than 14 months.
Your cookie choice
We store your cookie preferences in a small cookie (tt_cmp_consent) for 12 months so we don’t have to ask on every page. This is necessary to respect your choice. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
Server and security logs
Like every website, our web server and hosting provider automatically log technical information when a page is requested, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs are used to deliver the site, keep it secure and fix errors, based on our legitimate interest in running a safe, working website. They are kept for a short period and are not used to identify or profile visitors.
Content loaded from other services
To show pages quickly, some content is loaded directly from other providers, which means your browser sends them your IP address and standard request information:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) for the typeface used on the site.
- Pexels and Unsplash (images.pexels.com, images.unsplash.com) for destination photographs.
- flagcdn.com for country flag images on some pages.
These requests don’t set cookies from us, and we don’t receive any data from them. Each provider handles the request under its own privacy policy.
If you email us
If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply and to act on what you asked (for example, correcting an error in a guide). We keep correspondence for as long as it’s needed for that purpose.
Links to other websites
Our guides link to official tourism sites, government travel advice, transport operators and app stores. Once you follow a link, that site’s own privacy policy applies.
Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you can ask to access the personal data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Because we don’t hold accounts or names, in practice most data about you sits in analytics, which you control with the cookie settings.
To exercise your rights, email editorial@traveling-to.com. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet) or the data protection authority in your own country.
Children
This site is a general travel resource and isn’t aimed at children. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, for example by adding a newsletter or advertising, we’ll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
