About traveling-to.com
About & Editorial Standards
We write destination guides built on research, not press trips. Every page is meant to give you the information you need to make your own decisions.
Who we are
traveling-to.com is an independent travel information site with guides to 246 countries and territories and 737 city, island and regional guides. We don’t accept payment for coverage, sponsored placements or advertising from hotels, airlines or tourism boards, and nobody outside our team reviews our content before it’s published.
The site carries no advertising and no affiliate links today. If we add affiliate links in future (links that earn a small commission if you book through them), we’ll label them clearly and they won’t influence which places we cover or what we say about them.
What we cover and why
We cover every country and most territories, including places few travellers reach. Coverage decisions follow where readers want to go, not which places are easiest to write about or most commercially attractive.
We cover difficult destinations, such as countries under sanctions, conflict zones and territories with disputed status, with the same factual approach as mainstream ones. A guide to North Korea or Syria is written to give accurate, practical information to people who have decided to go, not to endorse the governments of those places.
How we research
Primary sources
Official tourism and transport sites, government travel advice, embassies and national statistics agencies.
Specialist references
Published guidebooks, academic geography and history, and long-form journalism from reliable outlets.
Direct experience
Where possible, firsthand knowledge of the destination from writers and editors who have spent time there.
Verification
Prices, entry rules, apps and transport options are checked against official sources, and each page shows when it was last reviewed.
Our editorial standards
- Independence. We don’t accept payment, free trips, hotel stays or other compensation for coverage.
- Accuracy. We check verifiable claims and date our reviews. Prices and opening hours change, so check current information before you travel.
- Transparency. We say how guides are produced (including our use of AI, below) and will disclose any commercial relationship.
- Corrections. If you find an error, tell us and we’ll investigate and correct it within 7 working days.
- Balance. We describe safety concerns, politics, accessibility and ethical issues honestly rather than writing promotional copy.
- Attribution. We don’t reproduce other publications’ copyrighted content, and we credit photographers.
Safety and entry information
Where governments advise against travel or urge caution, the country’s guide and all its city guides open with a dated travel advisory notice that links to the latest UK Foreign Office and US State Department advice. Guides for countries with online entry permits — including the UK, the Schengen area, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka and Kenya — include a dated entry-rules box linking to the official application site.
These notices are summaries. Entry rules and safety conditions can change overnight, so always check your own government’s travel advice and the destination’s official entry requirements before you book.
How we keep content current
- Rolling reviews. Popular destinations are reviewed at least once a year, and any guide is updated when we learn of significant changes.
- Review dates. Every guide shows when it was last reviewed, so you can judge how current it is.
- Sitewide checks. We regularly check things that go out of date across many pages at once, such as currencies, ride-hailing apps, app-store links and closed attractions.
- Prices. Costs are indicative. Exchange rates, inflation and seasons mean what you pay may differ.
Our use of AI
We use AI tools in our workflow to help draft, structure and check guides. Drafts are treated like a junior writer’s first draft: a starting point that is reviewed, fact-checked against primary sources and edited before publication. We don’t use AI to invent quotes, “local tips” or specific details, and specific facts such as prices, distances, opening hours and dates are checked independently.
Photography
Photos come from Pexels and Unsplash, whose licences allow commercial use. We credit photographers on destination pages as a matter of good practice. We don’t use AI-generated images.
Contact and corrections
For corrections, content questions or partnership enquiries, email editorial@traveling-to.com. We aim to respond to factual corrections within 7 working days. We don’t accept requests for paid coverage, link insertions or sponsored content.
