Option A (Greenway): rent a bicycle at 9am (€20–35/day); cycle Westport to Newport (18km; 1h 30min; the Newport viaduct; the bay views) then to Mulranny (12km; 1h) and Achill Sound (12km; 1h); taxi return from Achill Sound (€30–50). Option B (Achill Island by car): 40km via the Achill Sound bridge; the Slievemore deserted village (free; 45 min), the Minaun Cliffs walk (2h return), and Keem Bay beach (the finest Mayo beach; 1h). Return to Westport for dinner. Both options end at Matt Molloy’s for the second night session.
