7 Days in Palawan

Day 1El Nido

Arrive Puerto Princesa (Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, or AirAsia from Manila; 1.5h; from 1,500 PHP return). Honda Bay snorkel (8km east; from 800 PHP; the finest Starfish Island and Pambato Reef snorkel). Puerto Princesa paluto restaurant (from 500 PHP per seafood meal; bring-your-own-seafood-and-cook).

💡 The El Nido island-hopping circuit: Tour A — Big Lagoon kayak → Small Lagoon limestone cave gap kayak → Shimizu Island coral reef snorkel → Seven Commandos Beach → bangka lunch → return to El Nido by 4pm; from 1,200 PHP per person; private bangka hire from 5,000 PHP for groups of 4+ for the best private El Nido island circuit.

Day 2El Nido
Underground River & Sabang Beach

Puerto Princesa Underground River (depart 8am; 2h transfer by bangka and van to Sabang; 4.3km guided paddle through the cathedral cave chamber and bat colony; return to Puerto Princesa by 4pm). Transfer to El Nido by shared van (6h; from 600 PHP per seat). El Nido island hopping Tour A (from 1,200 PHP per person per full-day).

💡 The Puerto Princesa Underground River: book at least 2 days ahead through any Puerto Princesa tour operator or ppsunderground-river.com; from 1,500 PHP per person (includes return transfer to Sabang, 4.3km guided paddle); the finest 8am departure for the finest 10am cathedral cave chamber light.

Day 3
Transfer to El Nido

The van north takes 5–6 hours (PHP 600–900, hotel pickup included) through rice country and karst foothills. Arrive by mid-afternoon, settle into Corong-Corong or town, and walk Las Cabanas beach for your first El Nido sunset behind the islands.

💡 Book the van a day ahead and take the 7–8am departure — afternoon vans arrive after dark and the road twists.

Day 4
El Nido Island Hopping: Tour A

The classic: kayak into Big Lagoon between sheer limestone walls, swim Shimizu Island’s reef, squeeze into Secret Lagoon and finish on Seven Commandos beach (about PHP 1,400 with lunch grilled on the boat).

💡 Lagoon entries are capacity-limited — join the earliest departure or split a private boat and hit Big Lagoon first, before the fleet.

Day 5
El Nido Tour C: Hidden Beaches & Shrines

The wilder run: swim through the rock gap into Hidden Beach, climb Matinloc Shrine’s viewpoint, snorkel the drop-off at Helicopter Island. Rougher water, better payoff — most travellers rate C over B.

💡 Bring a dry bag and reef-safe sunscreen; the boat crossings on Tour C get splashy from June to October.

Day 6
Nacpan Beach & Nagkalit-kalit Falls

Scooter 45 minutes north to Nacpan’s four-kilometre twin beach — still mostly empty at the far end. On the way back, the short river walk to Nagkalit-kalit falls for a freshwater rinse, then a last Corong-Corong sunset from a beach bar.

💡 The Nacpan road is now paved the whole way — fill the tank in town and take the inland shortcut signposted after Villa Libertad.

Day 7
Fly Out of Lio — or Loop Back

Morning swim, then either the 10-minute hop to Lio airport for direct flights to Manila or Cebu, or the van back to Puerto Princesa for cheaper connections. If you have spare days, break the return at Port Barton — Palawan’s quieter, hammock-paced third act.

💡 Lio (ELN) fares run higher than Puerto Princesa but save you a full travel day — book the Friday/Sunday flights earliest.
