The Jordanian resorts are about 1 hour's drive from Amman and around 45–60 minutes from Queen Alia International Airport. A car, taxi or tour is the easiest way to get there.
Yes — public beaches such as Amman Beach charge a day entry fee and have showers, so you can float without booking a hotel.
October to May, when temperatures are around 18–28°C. From June to September it is very hot, often 32–40°C. At about 430 m below sea level, it's noticeably warmer than Amman year-round.
Keep water out of your eyes and mouth, don't shave beforehand, and don't try to swim face-down — just float. Rinse off in the showers afterwards.
Expect around JOD 25–45 per day on a budget and JOD 80–150 mid-range. The currency is the Jordanian dinar (JOD).
