Al Wakrah’s souq is the dining draw, with terraces serving fresh Gulf seafood, grilled hammour and prawns, Levantine mezze and Qatari machboos beside the water. There are relaxed cafes for karak tea and shisha, plus ice-cream and dessert spots for an evening stroll. It feels calmer and more local than Doha’s busier restaurant districts.
Wander the coral-stone lanes of Souq Al Wakrah, relax on the beach, and photograph the dhows in the old harbour as the heat eases.
Settle into a souq terrace for fresh seafood and karak tea, then take an evening stroll along the lit corniche.
Continue south to the Sealine dunes for a 4×4 desert safari, camel ride and sunset over the sands.
Al Wakrah is 20 minutes south of Doha by car, or reach it on the Metro Red Line and a short taxi.
The souq and corniche are loveliest in the cooler late afternoon and after dark.
