La Ceiba’s coastal kitchen serves fresh seafood, coconut-rich Garifuna dishes like tapado seafood stew, and Honduran staples such as baleadas and plato tipico. The city has a good spread of restaurants, street food and lively bars, especially along the Zona Viva. Try fried fish with tajadas (plantain chips) and wash it down with a cold Port Royal beer.
Raft the Cangrejal river and hike a trail into Pico Bonito National Park, staying at a jungle lodge on the river.
Take an early boat through the Cuero y Salado refuge for manatees and birds, then relax on the coast or dive into the Zona Viva nightlife.
