If Trinidad is the party, Tobago is the recovery — and Pigeon Point is its postcard. This is the image the whole two-island nation puts on its tourist brochures: a thatched-roof jetty reaching over water so clear and so turquoise it barely looks real, fringed by leaning coconut palms and powder-soft sand. It is the most famous beach in Tobago, and one of the loveliest in the southern Caribbean.

Officially the Pigeon Point Heritage Park, it sits on Tobago’s calm southwestern tip, a short hop from the airport and the cluster of resorts around Crown Point. This is the launch point for glass-bottom-boat trips out to Buccoo Reef and the Nylon Pool, and a fine place to do very little — swim in the flat, warm water, nap under a palm, and watch the light turn gold over the jetty at sunset. After Trinidad’s intensity, that is exactly the point.

Top Sights at Pigeon Point

The Iconic Jetty

The Iconic Jetty

The thatched-roof jetty reaching over turquoise shallows — the single most photographed spot in Tobago, and the image on every postcard of the island.

💡 Come early or at sunset for the light and to beat the day crowds.

The Beach & Shallows

The Beach & Shallows

Powder sand and calm, warm, impossibly clear water backed by leaning palms — ideal for gentle swimming and floating the afternoon away.

💡 The water stays shallow and calm far out — great for families.

Sunset at the Point

Sunset at the Point

Facing west across the water, Pigeon Point delivers the classic Caribbean sunset, the jetty and palms silhouetted against the glow.

💡 Stay for the sunset with a drink from the beach bar.

Watersports & Boat Trips

Watersports & Boat Trips

The launch point for glass-bottom-boat tours to Buccoo Reef and the Nylon Pool, plus kitesurfing, kayaking and paddleboarding in the steady breeze.

💡 Book a reef trip here in the morning for the calmest water.

Eating & Drinking

The park has beach bars and food stalls serving Tobagonian and Trini favourites — curry crab and dumpling is Tobago’s signature dish, along with grilled fish, roti, and of course cold Carib beer and rum punch. Just outside at Crown Point and Store Bay, a famous row of food huts does some of the best curry crab, callaloo and fried fish on the island, cheap and served until late. For a proper meal, the resort restaurants nearby range from casual to smart. But the classic Pigeon Point experience is a rum punch and a plate of curry crab with your toes in the sand.

Getting Around

Pigeon Point sits on Tobago’s southwestern tip, minutes from the airport and the Crown Point resort area — easily walkable from many nearby hotels, or a very short taxi ride. There is an entry fee to the Heritage Park. To reach Tobago itself, take a short flight or the ferry from Port of Spain. On the island, taxis and maxi-taxis are the main transport, and renting a car makes exploring the wider island and its beaches much easier. Everything at Pigeon Point is on foot once you are through the gate.
