The Buddha Dhatu Jadi, or Golden Temple, is the largest Theravada Buddhist temple in Bangladesh, its gilded spires rising above a hilltop near town and reflecting the region’s strong Buddhist heritage.

Hill food here differs from the plains: bamboo-cooked meats, jhum-grown vegetables, sticky rice and Marma and Chakma specialities appear alongside standard Bangladeshi curries. Simple local eateries in town are the place to try them.
