This compact reserve is the star attraction, home to several habituated family groups of indri. Guided morning walks track them by their haunting calls through the humid forest.

Dining in Andasibe is simple and hearty, mostly at hotel and lodge restaurants serving rice with zebu, chicken or fish, hot soups and French-style dishes to warm you after damp forest walks. A few serve local honey, ginger tea and freshwater crayfish. Bring snacks and water for long park days as options in the forest are limited.
Take a dawn guided walk in Analamazaotra to track indri families, visit Vakona Lemur Island in the afternoon, then join a night walk for chameleons and mouse lemurs.
Head out by 4×4 to wilder Mantadia for sifaka, waterfalls and rainforest birds before the drive back toward the capital.
Guides are mandatory and superb at finding wildlife; booking through the village association funds conservation.
This is rainforest; pack a waterproof, quick-dry clothes and leech socks in the wet months.
