The town walls viewpoint at the eastern gate faces the Alazani Valley and Greater Caucasus. Arrive 30 minutes before sunset in summer for the best position.
Rtveloba (grape harvest; September) in the Kakheti region involves grape stomping, churchkhela making, and communal feasts. A genuinely participatory local event.
The descent to Bodbe Spring takes 400 stone steps (20 minutes down). The walled garden and healing spring at the bottom are serene and largely tourist-free.
